Laser Bacterial Reduction is a quick and painless dental service that uses lasers to remove harmful bacteria from your mouth, reducing the risk of gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath. The laser technology used in this treatment can eliminate harmful bacteria in the mouth, which is a key factor in preventing and treating periodontal disease. Laser Bacterial Reduction is just one part of a comprehensive periodontal treatment plan that can enhance your overall well-being and give you the confidence to show off your healthy, sparkling smile.
At Smiles on Clark, we offer herpetic and apthous ulcer therapy to help you find relief from painful, uncomfortable lesions. With our cutting-edge laser technology, we can safely stop the progression of the ulcers and cauterize nerve endings in order to provide immediate relief from itching, burning, tingling, and pain. Our therapy also stimulates the area for quicker healing, getting you back to feeling like yourself again in no time. And, if caught early enough, we can even prevent herpetic lesions from ever showing up, ensuring you stay comfortable and healthy.

At Smiles on Clark, we believe that every patient deserves top-notch dental care. But we know that maintaining great oral health isn’t just our responsibility, it’s yours too! We can help you establish a dental hygiene routine that will keep your teeth healthy and white.

Did you know that your gums are just as important as your teeth? That’s why we offer periodontal cleanings and treatment, and if necessary, refer you to one of our trusted specialists. We want to make sure that you have all the information you need to keep your entire mouth healthy and clean.

One of the most crucial parts of dental care is the oral cancer screening. With the help of modern technology which detects problems that can’t always be seen with the naked eye, we can identify potential problems at the earliest possible stage, which is vital in treating any issues before they become irreversible. If you’re a smoker or heavy drinker, it’s especially important to get regular screenings.

Another service we provide is root planing, which is a deep-cleaning procedure that targets the buildup of plaque and tartar below the gum line. We use specialized instruments to clean and smooth the area, ensuring that it’s completely spotless. Neglecting this area can lead to bacteria buildup, which can cause irritation and bleeding during brushing. If you’re experiencing bleeding, it’s important to have us check this area. Let us help you keep your entire mouth healthy and bright!

Endodontics is the dental specialty that deals with the nerves of your teeth. When you have a tooth infection, it is usually related to the nerves in the root of the tooth. That’s where root canals come in! Although they might have a bad reputation, root canals are the most common procedure relating to endodontics, and they can save your tooth and relieve you from pain.

During a root canal, the area around the tooth is numbed with a local anesthetic to start the procedure. The dentist will then remove the infected tissue and clean the canal. After the infection has been removed, the space is filled with a sealant called gutta percha. It’s highly recommended that a tooth that has undergone a root canal is fitted with a crown. This will improve the appearance of the tooth and make it much more likely that the root canal is successful.

Don’t let the term “root canal” scare you! Thanks to advances in dental technology, the procedure is much less “scary” and can be performed with little to no pain in most cases. In fact, the procedure will relieve you from pain caused by the infection, allowing you to enjoy all the foods you love without any pain from heat, cold, or biting too hard. If you’re experiencing any pain, don’t hesitate to consult your dentist today. They’ll be able to provide you with the best solution to get your smile back on track.

When you lose a tooth, it can be detrimental to your oral health and can cause significant issues with eating and speaking. Dental bridges are a great way to ‘fill in the gap’ and help you replace any missing teeth you may have.

We’ll begin the process of creating your bridge by taking molds of your existing teeth to ensure a perfect fit. The mold is sent to a dental lab, where they will create a strong, durable bridge made of materials like gold, metal, alloys, or porcelain. While we wait for the permanent bridge to be crafted, we will fit you with a temporary bridge that looks natural and protects your gums and abutments. Once your permanent bridge is ready, we’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to set it in place. After a few days, you’ll feel like you have your own teeth back again, and you’ll be able to eat and speak normally without any issues.

At Smiles on Clark, we understand that as time passes, teeth can become more vulnerable to problems like decay, discoloration, cracks, or other problems. If you’re feeling like your smile isn’t what it used to be, fillings or bonding may not be sufficient—but that’s where crowns come in.

When a tooth is weakened or decayed, a crown may be able to help and can prevent further damage. There are different materials that crowns can be made from, like porcelain fused to metal, full gold crown, or porcelain, which provides the most natural look and feel. Porcelain crowns can also be matched to the shade of your other teeth, so they blend in seamlessly.

The process of getting a crown usually takes 2-3 visits to our dental office. In the first visit, the tooth will be reshaped and filed down to create space for the crown. After taking a mold of the tooth and surrounding teeth, we’ll place a temporary crown while the permanent crown is being made. Once the permanent crown is ready, we’ll place and fit it with a special, permanent adhesive to ensure it sets in place.

Crowns are durable and can last around 10-15 years. You should care for them just like your natural teeth with regular brushing and flossing.

Dentures are a great option for those who have missing teeth and want a functional and natural-looking replacement. There are two main types of dentures: full and partial.

Full dentures are used when all of the natural teeth are removed and replaced with a full set of dentures. Conventional full dentures require some time for your gums to heal before they can be placed. On the other hand, immediate full dentures are fitted and placed in your mouth immediately after your teeth are removed. While they may feel bulky or loose at first, your mouth will eventually adjust to the dentures, and they will begin to feel more like your natural teeth.

Partial dentures are an option when not all of your teeth need to be removed. They are similar to a bridge, but they are not a permanent fixture in your mouth. Like full dentures, they may take some time to get used to, but they are a great option to restore your smile and improve your oral health.

When you have dentures, it’s important to care for them like you would your natural teeth. Make sure to brush them to remove plaque and food particles, and handle them carefully to avoid dropping or damaging them. Don’t try to adjust them yourself—seek assistance from your Smiles at Clark dentist if they feel uncomfortable or loose.
